New Premises Planned For CHUB on Brailwood Road Bilsthorpe

The Trustees are pleased to announce that the organisation's plans for new premises are progressing well.  Everyone is working hard to secure funding for this exciting project.  A showpiece for the community, the new premises will provide sustainability to enable the organisation to expand the range of services available to Bilsthorpe and the surrounding area.

Founded in February 1993, over 500 people have been found employment with the help of the charity.  An average of 700 people use the centre each year with an average of 7,000 visits recorded annually since 2000.  An average of nearly 1000 training places has been available each year at the centre which currently operates from Cross Street.

In addition, it works in partnership with numerous other organisations, both statutory and voluntary.

QUALITY STANDARDS.  CHUB is run professionally and has active confidentiality, disciplinary, financial, health & safety, volunteering and equal opportunities policies. The organisation is a certified user of the ‘Positive about Disabled People’ symbol.

OUTREACH. CHUB opened an outreach centre in neighbouring Farnsfield in 1996.  This is open on one day a week and has been very successful.

CHUB IS A FLAGSHIP ORGANISATION.  One of the first of its kind, CHUB has been copied by others and used as an example of good practice by the Governments Coalfield Task Force.

It has an excellent reputation for professional and efficient service delivery but in a warm and welcoming non-intimidating environment created by the staff and management team.

Its greatest strength lies in its ability to communicate with the local community and as such is user-led.

The staff/management team are constantly mindful that current and future funding, and therefore the very future of the organisation, relies totally on their ability to meet targets and fill in forms.  This is regardless of the testimonies of the hundreds of people who have benefited from the service over the years and the unquantifiable increase in self-esteem and quality of life that ensues.

But CHUB knows what it must do to survive in the future; it will strive to become a social enterprise, generating income from business activities that will provide the means to offer its resource centre services to the community.

To do this, CHUB needs purpose-built premises and these are within our grasp.  We just need a little more support to help us achieve our goal.

CHUB IS A SUCCESS STORY.  It provides the tools with which to re-build lives – job opportunities, training and education courses, help, advice, information and encouragement.  What’s more, it is on the doorstep, in the heart of the community, accessible, friendly, welcoming and approachable. We trust you will enjoy your association with CHUB and proud of its achievements. We trust, also, that you will promote CHUB’s work at every opportunity and report back any suggestions and ideas, pleasant or otherwise!
